Together for a Better Future

Fishermen for Christ recognizes that housing displacement reaches beyond California. We also want the site to reflect care for New Yorkers and families facing shelter instability, emergency displacement, and urgent need.

Fishermen for Christ is a nonprofit ministry and LLC committed to serving people experiencing homelessness through outreach, hot and cold food services, showers, clothing, laundry access, drop-in support, shelter assistance, medical care, mental health support, and volunteer-driven community care.

To reflect Christ’s love by helping restore lives and bring hope to people experiencing homelessness. To serve with compassion through outreach, essential services, and community partnerships that meet immediate needs and support long-term change.

We believe every person deserves dignity, consistent care, and a real opportunity to rebuild. That means showing up with both immediate help and pathways to longer-term support.

Ways You Can Help

See the Need

Start by recognizing people experiencing homelessness in your community with dignity, respect, and compassion. Volunteers encourage residents to learn about local resources, acknowledge people with kindness, and stay aware of what support is available nearby.

Give Practical Help

Support immediate needs by donating food, water, hygiene kits, socks, clothing, or financial gifts to trusted local outreach groups and shelters. Volunteers and local city homelessness programs highlight practical donations and essential items as direct ways community members can help.

Serve Your Community

Volunteer your time, skills, or services through ministries, shelters, food outreach teams, and local homeless service providers. Opportunities can include serving meals, sorting donations, supporting outreach events, or offering pro bono help in areas like health care, administration, or counseling.

Help Connect Resources

Assist by sharing trusted local resource information, making outreach requests when someone needs help, and supporting housing and shelter efforts in your area. We recognize that residents can help by connecting people to outreach systems and by advocating for housing and shelter solutions in their communities.

  • More than 158,000 people in New York were experiencing homelessness in 2024, about one in five of the nation’s homeless population.
